In 2024, we expect over 250 public libraries to be on the ballot for operating tax measures and bonds to build new buildings. These are positive campaigns that need support to reach and activate voters. But we also know that in 2024, public libraries will also be under threat at the ballot box. Over the past two years, we have seen Election Day attempts to defund libraries, close libraries, eliminate library boards, and institute regressive policies. Unfortunately, in some places, they have passed.
For over a decade, EveryLibrary's mission has been to support libraries on the ballot. We have provided pro bono assistance to over 130 libraries on the ballot. Libraries2024 is the next step in fulfilling that mission. In 2024, we need to be prepared to help each and every library that needs it. This starts with volunteer supporters like you who can work locally or remotely to help Get Out the Vote for Libraries. As the only national political action committee for libraries, we want to connect volunteers like yourself to their local Vote Yes or Vote No campaigns or have you sign up to work remotely on phone banks, text banks, and postcard GOTV campaigns.
